Father’s Day cards

June 17th, 2016

We made cards for Father’s Day. We used puns to make them funny. Thanks Miss Newitt for helping us! Thanks to all our dads for being there for us. I hope our cards survive the rain!

Art-  cityscapes

May 3rd, 2016

Now we have practised the different techniques we are ready for our final design. We started off creating the water and say. Next, we added the clouds. After that, we cut out buildings from coloured paper. We then used cut up pieces of paper for the reflections. We made sure the reflection was the same colour as the building. We thought about the different buildings in London and incorporated in our designs. Can you recognise any of the buildings?

Art

April 28th, 2016

We have been continuing our art and cityscapes.

Today we looked at creating the city skyline. Again we trialled different ways of creating our skyline. First, we used a continuous line. This was a technique we used previously in portraiture and we are a lot more confident with it now. Next, we could only use straight lines and had to use a ruler. Another technique we tried was used digital images. We cut away a section of the city in a photo and had to draw the missing gap. Finally, we used different colour paper and cut it out to create the buildings.

Art- cityscapes

April 27th, 2016

This term we are having a large focus on London. In art we are therefore studying the city skyline. We are working towards creating our own cityscape using a variety of textures, lines and media.

To start off with we are looking at how we can create the sky and the water. We trialled using blue and white chalk. We also attempted using paint as well as wax candles and water colour paint.

We evaluated our efforts and suggested how we could we could improve it for our final design as well as what we thought would work well.

School trip

March 11th, 2016

On Friday we went to Stratford in London! We had an extremely busy day. We went as part of our story writing project ‘Catching Words’, with the Discovery Centre. When we arrived we went to the Olympic Park. We looked at the Olympic stadium and other buildings. In maths we had been learning about shapes so we went on a hunt to find as many shapes as we could. We also noticed the shadows on the floor. Working as scientists we discussed what may happen to the shadows over time throughout the day.

We then found a fantastic viewing area where we could see the skyline of London. We sketched the skyline thinking about different textures. This is what we will be looking at in art next term.

We then got to play in the park before heading to the Discovery Centre. When we got there we built a story together and looked around the centre for inspiration.

In art we have looked at portraiture. We looked at different ways of drawing faces such as using continuous lines. We also used digital images to create faces.

Biscuits

November 12th, 2015

In DT we were looked at designing cookies.

We looked at other cookies and the logos which were used on the packaging. We then designed our own logos and packaging.

Because we had worked well as a team we had filled up our Team Work Flower. As part of our treat we made the cookies! Because we are a team we shared the cookies we had made with the class and ate each others.

We then evaluated our cookies and decided how we could have improved upon them for next time.

What do you think of them?
