School trip

March 11th, 2016

On Friday we went to Stratford in London! We had an extremely busy day. We went as part of our story writing project ‘Catching Words’, with the Discovery Centre. When we arrived we went to the Olympic Park. We looked at the Olympic stadium and other buildings. In maths we had been learning about shapes so we went on a hunt to find as many shapes as we could. We also noticed the shadows on the floor. Working as scientists we discussed what may happen to the shadows over time throughout the day.

We then found a fantastic viewing area where we could see the skyline of London. We sketched the skyline thinking about different textures. This is what we will be looking at in art next term.

We then got to play in the park before heading to the Discovery Centre. When we got there we built a story together and looked around the centre for inspiration.

Fair trade

November 23rd, 2015

In geography we have been been looking at Fair trade. We looked at where in the world the fair trade food of the banana came from.

We looked at the equator as well as the Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn.

We also created story maps of the journey of a fair trade banana.

Do you buy fair trade food?

We also looked at different jobs involved in producing a banana. We looked at what they did and debated in groups who should get the most.

We then voted in our groups. We were shocked when we found out the supermarket got the largest proportion. We thought either the banana worker, shipper or ripener should.

Geography- Cities and Villages

September 30th, 2015

Today in your Geography lesson you are going to blog your research.

You have been given a city or a village in pairs and your task is to research that village.

You could find out:

what is its population?
does it have a church?
does it have a school?

Is there anything else interesting about that place?

Make sure you are using accurate spellings.
